RRB NTPC Exam

RRB NTPC Exam

The railway exam for posts such as clerk, goods guard and station master. There are graduate and under-graduate levels.

Who can apply

  • Graduate-level posts need a degree. Under-graduate level posts need the 12th pass.
  • Age and the exact qualification depend on the post and the category. Read the official notification (CEN) for the post you want.
  • Each Railway Recruitment Board has its own website, but you apply for the same exam.

The stages

  • First stage: a computer-based test (CBT 1).
  • Second stage: a computer-based test (CBT 2) for the shortlisted candidates.
  • Some posts also have a typing skill test or an aptitude test. After that come the document check and a medical examination.

How to prepare

  • Read the notification and the syllabus for your post level first.
  • Practise maths, reasoning and general awareness, as in other computer-based exams.
  • Take timed mock tests, because the first stage is a screening test.
  • Watch the official RRB websites often, since stage dates change.

Official website

This is general guidance and can change each year. The official notification always decides who can apply and how. Never pay anyone to "guarantee" a government job.
